Islamic Interpretation
(Fight, Adversities, Pollution) Seeing thick smoke hanging heavily over a town in a dream announces a calamity sent by God Most High or severe chastisement from a ruler. Smoke rising from one’s own house, however, warns of slander against the dreamer or a grave affliction, injury, or fever stemming from his occupation, followed by recovery and restoration of control. Smoke issuing from a fire or ascending from beneath a cooking vessel signifies gladness after sorrow and abundance after want. Odourless smoke points to an outrage or unpleasant event that will later be exposed and bring disgrace. Standing beneath a canopy of smoke foretells a burning fever. Feeling the scorching heat of smoke means hardships and anguish. Clouds of smoke gathering over hills predict widespread alarm among the inhabitants of that region. Smoke without fire indicates the presence of troops though no battle occurs, yet the resulting fear will affect all. When the smoke injures people or impairs their sight in the dream, it denotes tyranny, gloom, troubles, torment, and penalty from God for collective wrongdoing. Smoke in a dream also carries tidings from the direction whence it appears. (Also see Smoke, Sparks)
