(Town, Urban center, Village) Entering a city in a vision signifies the calming of one's anxieties. Imam Ibn Seerin considered it more favorable to dream of entering a city than leaving it. A city can also symbolize a knowledgeable individual, a sage, or an erudite scholar. Should one enter a city and find it in a state of ruin, it indicates that its learned inhabitants have departed or perished. Some say that witnessing a city foretells the demise of its ruler or the rise of a tyrannical leader from that locale. Observing a city under construction denotes an increase in its wise populace and foretells children who will uphold their forefathers' traditions. A city without a governor points to escalating costs. An unfamiliar city represents the afterlife, while a recognized one symbolizes the temporal world. Finding oneself in an unknown city is also a mark of piety. The most auspicious cities in dreams are the vast ones. One's birthplace signifies his father, and his homeland represents his mother. Being in a northern city suggests an increase in wealth; being in a southern city implies a growth in cunning and deceit. Dreaming of a lowland indicates hardship and distress, whereas a highland signifies integrity and honesty. Being in Egypt denotes a long and easy life. Being in farmland suggests adopting novel practices. Being in a fertile garden heralds a year of abundance. Being in Jerusalem or at Mount Sinai's base also signals prosperity. Seeing Sodom and Gomorrah signifies calamity, seismic events, terror, and depravity. Seeing a city may also symbolize turning away from sin. A province represents its leader or notable scholars. Governing a city means attaining a fitting rank, marrying, recovering from sickness, repenting, or receiving guidance from a wise teacher. Seeing a deceased person walking alive in a city suggests he enjoys Paradise's blessings. Seeing a deceased person in a village suggests he may be suffering in Hell. Entering a known city indicates one will not die before visiting it again, or that news will arrive from there. City walls denote a powerful leader.
