Circumambulation

Category: Action

Islamic Interpretation

(Walking around the Kaaba, Tawaf) Should a transgressor see himself performing the ritual walk around the Sacred House in Mecca within a dream, this signifies his deliverance from the torment of Hell. For an unmarried person, it foretells marriage. If someone is eligible for advancement, it indicates a promotion will be granted. Dreaming of undertaking the pilgrimage (Hajj) similarly denotes performing the circumambulation, cultivating virtuous conduct, leading an upright and honorable life, attaining security from dread, settling outstanding debts, returning goods or funds held in trust to their proper owners, proving reliable, embracing austerity, honoring a pledge, expiating misdeeds, dispensing charity, or interceding for a righteous and esteemed leader. Performing the circumambulation while mounted on a mare, however, warns of committing the grave sin of illicit relations with a close family member or a blood relative with whom marriage is forbidden.
