Islamic Interpretation
When a man dreams that his wife, though not actually pregnant, delivers a son, it signifies incoming wealth. A pregnant woman who sees herself delivering a girl in a dream will actually bear a boy, and if she sees a boy, she will give birth to a girl. Bearing a girl foretells ease after hardship, whereas bearing a boy indicates worries and strain. A sick person dreaming that his mother is giving birth to him again means his death is near, because the dead are wrapped in a shroud just as a newborn is wrapped in its cloth. For a poor man this same vision promises improved finances; for a wealthy man it warns of tightened resources, since a child depends wholly on others and cannot move freely. A traveler seeing his wife give birth to another child predicts delays and alterations in his journey. A woman delivering a child from her mouth in a dream signifies her own death. When a man gives birth to a son in a dream, it points to sickness, deliverance from peril, or parting from a harmful spouse. Giving birth to a daughter promises relief, joy, or the appearance of an illustrious descendant who will rise to leadership. A woman giving birth to a cat means her child will grow into a thief. Childbirth in a dream generally represents deliverance from difficulties, recovery from sickness, or leaving one’s home or town. It also denotes comfort, rest, settlement of debts, and turning back to God in repentance. A woman bearing a son in a dream signals the end of her trials, good news, clearing of debts, or sincere repentance. Bearing a daughter brings dignity, abundance, and ease. A needy man giving birth foretells prosperity; a rich man foretells trouble; an unmarried man foretells imminent marriage in which his future wife will deliver the very child seen in the dream. In most cases, a man giving birth in a dream heralds either his own death, the death of a close relative, or severe poverty. For the destitute it means relief, for the trader loss of capital.
