(Bird, Fowl) A chicken in a dream symbolizes the woman of the household, while a rooster represents its male head. A chicken may also point to a woman who cares for orphans, gathers charity for them, or it can denote a fair-haired woman or a servant. Possessing a chicken suggests relief from worries or an omen of happiness. Catching one indicates lawful and easily gained profit. Slaughtering a chicken implies taking the virginity of a maidservant. If a chicken or female peacock nests in one’s home or garden, it foretells a trial mixed with some benefit.
