Hail

In a dream, hail signifies affliction, hardship, famine, loss of wealth, destitution, widespread oppression, or torment. By its nature, hail cools the land and destroys harmful insects, worms, and scorpions, while reducing the threat posed by snakes. Therefore, seeing hail falling in its appropriate season in a dream points to the removal of distress, relief from worries, and victory over difficulties, enemies, or envious rivals. Witnessing hail during the summer in a dream indicates commercial losses, whereas seeing it fall in winter signifies success and abundance. Intense or heavy hail in a dream denotes the ruin of businesses, disruption of communication, and damage to roads and pathways, thus symbolizing an obstruction to public benefit. Hail in a dream may also refer to an unusual type of trade or enterprise arriving from the direction of the storm-bearing wind. If no harm is experienced in the dream, hail represents good news, particularly when people are seen collecting it in containers. When hail falls upon farmland without causing damage in a dream, it signifies a plentiful harvest. Gathering hail in one’s clothes or wrapping it in fabric in a dream means loss of wealth or the disappearance of an expected delivery.

Rain

Rain in a dream, if it causes no harm or destruction, signifies blessings, profits, and mercy; it also represents life, an earthly being, or the fulfillment of a promise. If the rain falls only on a specific place, it indicates sorrow and distress for its people or the loss of a loved one. Rain falling solely over one's own house means personal blessings, but if it falls over the entire town, it denotes blessings for all. However, rain limited to one's house can also indicate illness or severe pain for someone in that home. If the skies rain stones or blood, it signifies calamities and divine punishment for sins. Rain of dust or sand points to an unjust ruler in that area, while rain of dirt without dust means prosperity and good harvest. For a traveler, rain in a dream suggests obstacles on the journey. A destructive rainstorm symbolizes dishonesty, cheating in trade, or the spread of immorality in society; seeing it tear down buildings, destroy homes, or uproot trees represents retribution for the corruption and sins of the inhabitants. Gentle, beneficial rain may indicate reconciliation with an enemy or aiding those in need; it can also represent a caravan of camels, just as a caravan symbolizes rain. Good rain further signifies prosperity, joy, replenishing wells with fresh water, and the flowing of pure springs; it means reviving stagnant affairs, gains, blessings, relief from hardship, debt repayment, or emotional ease. For a farmer, good rain promises abundant harvest and profits. If the skies rain honey, oil, butter, or desirable food, it denotes widespread blessings. Rain in a dream additionally stands for divine mercy, assistance, knowledge, wisdom, the Quran, renewal, revival, resurrection, and life itself. Seeking shelter under a roof, cover, or wall during rainfall suggests suffering from slander. In-season rain implies barriers to travel, financial losses, difficulty obtaining medicine due to poverty, or even imprisonment. Bathing in rain, performing ritual ablution with it, washing one's face, or cleansing filth signifies repentance from sin, spiritual guidance, or eliminating innovations and polytheism from the heart. For the poor, it means God will grant wealth and fulfill needs; if one seeks something from an authority, the request will be granted positively. Drinking clear, pure rainwater brings blessings and benefits, whereas drinking dirty, polluted rainwater indicates illness. (Also see Water)

In a dream, a rainbow symbolizes peace, calm, and the easing of fears after uncertainty, and it may also reflect hopes, illusions, or aspirations that appear beautiful yet fleeting. The dominance of specific colors carries distinct meanings: if red is most apparent, it warns of bloodshed, conflict, or violent events occurring within the same year; if yellow prevails, it points to illness, weakness, or physical distress; and if green is most prominent, it signifies safety, harmony, protection, and lasting tranquillity. Seeing a rainbow can also indicate marriage, union, or the coming together of two opposing sides. When a rainbow appears on the right side in a dream, it denotes blessings, divine favor, and goodness, while its appearance on the left side signifies prosperity, abundance, and a fruitful harvest. For a poor person, seeing a rainbow on the right side foretells wealth and relief from hardship, whereas for a rich person it may indicate temporary difficulties or passing trials. A rainbow may further represent extraordinary events, marvels, sudden changes in authority, or even a military coup, and if it is accompanied by thunder, the dream points to war, unrest, or violent upheaval.

In a dream, snow signifies profits, benefit, and relief, and it may also represent healing and recovery from illness. When snow and fire appear together side by side in a dream, they symbolize love, passion, harmony, and companionship, reflecting the union of opposites and emotional balance. Seeing snow in its proper season signifies the removal of hardships, purification from worries, and the exposure of enemies or jealous companions whose intentions become clear. Wind

In a dream, wind symbolizes authority, leadership, and power. It represents a ruler or a person in command, as well as the extent of one’s influence, ability to direct affairs, and capacity to shape or maneuver people’s interests. Winds in a dream may also signify a leader’s army, his commands, or his helpers. Wind was among the forces placed under the command of the Prophet Solomon (peace be upon him), moving by Allah’s will, and thus it reflects delegated power and divine permission. A violent or stormy wind in a dream signifies calamities, destruction, epidemics, or widespread affliction. A tornado specifically represents devastation or a major disaster. Conversely, wind in a dream may also signify pollination, fertile crops, prosperity, victory, and success. Winds can likewise symbolize physical ailments such as illness, rheumatism, sneezing, bodily pain, or headaches. If one sees himself carried by the wind and transported from one place to another without fear, and the sky is clear of darkness or clouds, it means he may attain leadership or authority if he is worthy of it, or that he will achieve success in business. It may also indicate the liquidation of stagnant or unsold merchandise. However, if the wind carries a person who feels fear, oppression, or anxiety, and the wind is accompanied by dark clouds or clouds of dust, then the meaning is adverse. If the dreamer is traveling, it signifies severe hardship. If he is sick, it means his illness will worsen. It may also indicate persecution by a higher authority or an unjust ruling by a judge. If one sees a massive tornado or tropical storm lifting people, trees, homes, or livestock and scattering them along its destructive path, it represents a great plague or a major calamity affecting that region. Poisonous or polluted winds in a dream signify feverish illness. A stormy wind accompanied by thunder represents a tyrannical ruler. If the wind carries someone from one land to another in a dream, it may indicate travel to that place with no return to his homeland. A gentle wind or soft breeze represents mercy, grace, and blessings upon the people and the land. A storm of dust signifies destruction and ruin. In general, winds in dreams represent divine messages and signs from Allah Almighty. If the wind is not accompanied by a favorable sign or joyful element, it signifies the withdrawal of blessings from that land. If the wind is accompanied by a harsh, shrill, or piercing sound, it indicates severe punishment descending upon that place. If a military commander sees himself leading his troops while preceded by a stormy wind, it signifies victory and triumph over his enemies. But if the storm confronts him upon reaching the battlefield, it means defeat. If a storm uproots trees, it signifies mass killing of people by the government of that land. A southern wind signifies illness, disease, or death, though it may sometimes be interpreted as rain and prosperity. A slow-moving wind signifies consenting to or tolerating the actions of evildoers. If the wind blows from a known direction, it signifies mercy, blessing, or receiving good news from that direction. Winds in a dream may also signify asking for one’s needs or their fulfillment. A gentle breeze represents travel, happiness, and joy. If the wind appears red in color, it signifies a rebellious, disobedient, or stubborn child. (Also see Fan)
