In Islamic dream interpretation, wine symbolizes illicit gain, forbidden currency, or money acquired without effort. To drink wine in a vision denotes committing a grave sin, but it may also signify attaining wealth. It can further imply slander, seduction, or hostility. A river of wine portends calamities. Wine can also indicate marital agreement or termination from employment. Diluting wine with water signifies mingling lawful and unlawful funds or profits from a business venture involving a woman. The process of pressing grapes into wine means serving a person of authority, which leads to notable worldly advancement. Being invited to a gathering with fruit platters and wine pitchers suggests achieving martyrdom. For an ill person, drinking wine indicates receiving effective treatment and recovery. More broadly, consuming wine signifies a loss of reason or an ominous event. Partaking of wine amidst the mentally unstable, accompanied by narcotics, music, revelry, and foolish behavior, signifies breaking an oath to one's protector or ruler, renouncing a covenant with God, or initiating rebellion. For a learned person, drinking wine denotes an expansion of his knowledge.
