Islamic Interpretation
In dream interpretation, the appearance of a cat often symbolizes a ledger or book of records, representing one's portion or earnings from a business venture, an inheritance received, or the fruits of one's labor and professional efforts. Alternatively, a cat may signify the act of avoiding or rejecting responsibilities toward one's spouse, partner, or offspring. On a more negative note, a cat in a dream can embody conflicts, arguments, theft, infidelity, betrayal, disloyalty, spying on others, gossiping, slandering, or even conceiving a child through an illicit affair—resulting in an illegitimate offspring. Conversely, it might represent an individual who speaks softly and persuasively, a flattering sycophant, or a person who craves acceptance and approval from those around them; yet, given the right opportunity, such a person may disrupt harmony and sow discord among others. A cat can also depict a superficial or self-absorbed woman who prioritizes her own vanity and desires. If, in the dream, a cat takes or steals an item belonging to its owner, this foretells potential consequences such as incurring a penalty or fine, engaging in disputes with family members, relatives, or children, or experiencing a theft or burglary. A wildcat, in particular, portends hardships, strenuous struggles, extreme difficulties, and a miserable or impoverished existence. The act of selling a cat within a dream suggests the gradual depletion or unwise expenditure of one's wealth and resources. Being scratched by a cat indicates forthcoming betrayal at the hands of a trusted servant, employee, or close aide. A cat's bite carries ominous meanings: it may signal involvement with a deceitful charlatan, a manipulative or dishonest woman, or perhaps a prolonged sickness or affliction that persists for an entire year.
