By God’s command, a bat was among the miraculous signs granted to the prophet Jesus, son of Mary, upon both be peace. In dreams, a bat may foretell troubling news for a pregnant woman and is regarded as an ill omen for travellers. Should a bat enter a house, it points to that home’s ruin or the family’s dispersion. It may also represent a sorceress, or an unjust individual shaped by hardship in childhood. It can signify blindness, negligence, adulterous behaviour, or a child of uncertain lineage. A bat may further imply hiding from others due to wrongdoing, such as theft or false testimony. Seeing a bat can also reflect one’s fear of slipping into sin.
