Islamic Interpretation
Beholding the archangel Gabriel—peace be upon him—in a dream while feeling joy at his presence heralds good news. If he speaks, counsels, or warns the dreamer, it points to honour, strength, victory, and uplifting outcomes. For the oppressed, it promises eventual triumph; for the ill, healing; for the fearful or distressed, relief and success. One who has not performed the pilgrimage may be granted the chance to complete it. His appearance can also signify the blessing of martyrdom, even if one lives long. Receiving food or fruit from him indicates a place among the people of Paradise. A disbeliever who sees him, however, may face ordeals and divine punishment. Considering Gabriel and Michael equal in rank implies aligning with the beliefs of the Jews and may lead the dreamer into actions contrary to divine guidance, bringing God’s anger. If Gabriel greets someone, it foretells becoming a learned and distinguished scholar. He may also represent a king’s envoy, a trusted assistant, a bearer of joyful announcements, or one who proclaims the birth of a son. His appearance can reflect deeper devotion, expanding knowledge, and grasping spiritual truths. For the dying, seeing him may signify a gentle ascent of the soul. Gabriel can also symbolize movement, striving, victory, and comprehension of sacred knowledge or cosmic signs. If he appears saddened, a misfortune may befall the dreamer. To become Gabriel in a dream suggests growing in generosity, noble conduct, and blessed endeavours.
